As noted in last month's report, the EHS² and REBRAC Directors provided a presentation at the CCCAOE conference. The focus of the presentation centered on the strategic goals of the EHS² Initiative and specifically the REBRACs. EHS² / REBRAC Training Programs
Several EHS² / REBRAC training programs were provided. One of the most common training programs provided by the REBRACs is the HAZWOPER. Training criteria for HAZWOPER is clearly specified under the OSHA 1910.120 and State of California regulation 5192 Title 8. For the inquiring minds, HAZWOPER is an acronym for
Hazardous Worker Operator Emergency Response.
Examples of recent training programs provided by the REBRACs include:
HazMat General Site Worker- 40 Hour: Designed to facilitate employer compliance with mandated federal and/or state HAZWOPER General Site Worker. The training session is acceptable for credit through the California State University System.
A/P CPR Training (Three sections): The class included hands on training to assist recognizing and responding to emergencies. and covered adult, child and infant CPR and obstructed airway. Courses included a completion card valid for two years recognized by the American Heart Association.
First Aid Training: The class provided training on how to identify and help control life-threatening situations. Content included recognizing signs, symptoms, and treatment of life-threatening illnesses and traumas. The class is recognized by the American Heart Association.

A/P CPR & First Aid Renewal Training: Hands-on training with mannequins was a unique aspect of this class. Participants reviewed all the skills and information needed to renew their First Aid cards.
40 Hour HAZWOPER:A 40 hour course providing federal and state certification for those who work with hazardous waste in any phase from management, operations, emergency response team or trainers, and site clean up. The course satisfied the requirements for generalized employee training under the OSHA 1910.120 and State of California regulation 5192 Title 8. A certificate and wallet card were issued upon completion of the class.
California Underground Storage Tank Designated Operator Exam Preparation Workshop (Two sections):
This training, is designed to aid individuals with their preparation for the, "California UST Operator Exam" administered by the ICC. The training covered UST systems, monitoring requirements, release reporting and recording requirements, facility inspections, and financial responsibility and record keeping requirements.

HAZWOPER Refresher: The class is designed to facilitate employer compliance with mandated federal and / or state HAZWOPER General Site Worker training requirements.
8 Hour: OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher (Three sections):
This Course meets the Federal and State Requirements of the annual refresher course found in Cal/OSHA 5192 and 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.120 To keep certification for 40 or 24 Hour HAZWOPER workers current. Content of the class included:
Characteristics and Identification of Hazardous Substances
Health Effects of Hazardous Substances Requirements
Worker Protection and Safe Work Practices
Principles of Emergency Response and Incident Command
Pollution Prevention Principles
Overall, a very productive REBRAC month!
